Hello!
Meet Louisa:
Louisa is a Co-Director and Principal Teacher at GLM, teaching jazz, tap, ballet, contemporary, musical theatre and hip hop styles to all ages and experience levels. She fell immediately in love with dance after attending her first ballet class at 5 years old and has never looked back. Louisa loves sharing her love of teaching at GLM with its inclusive atmosphere, family vibe and of course, her wonderful students.
As well as a Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Management, Louisa holds a Bachelor of Arts (Dance & Performance) and Bachelor of Education (Primary). As well as having taught dance since 2008, Louisa’s teaching resume includes gymnastics, swimming and fitness instruction, as well as her invaluable experience in primary schools. Louisa continues to further her formal teaching technique through ongoing professional development offered through Ballet Australasia Ltd.
Louisa attended her first ever dance class in 2000, immediately fell in love with its magic and has been dancing ever since. Over the years Louisa took many classes at Eileen Phillips Dance Academy – the school that would evolve to become GLM as we know it today, including ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop, and would go onto join the Eisteddfod Troupe at. Louisa also enjoyed various school dance programs as well, and of course went onto study dance and performance at both Sydney and Macquarie universities.
Outside of her work at GLM, Louisa enjoyed spending time with her daughter Lily, husband Mitch and their four cats and rabbit!
Louisa first and foremost loves dance because it is for everyone. No matter who you are, your age, gender, experience or ability, dance is something everyone can do and therefore has the power to unite people from all walks of life through a love of movement.
