Studio Policies

GLM Dance Studio Policies

The following lists the policies by which GLM Dance Studio programs and services are offered. We encourage all students and families to please read them carefully and don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions at any time. 

  • Enrolment Policy
    To enrol at our studio or to attend a trial lesson, a parent/guardian/student must read and agree to our Studio policies. An online enrolment form must be completed prior to attending a class, with the exception of pre-booked trial lessons. An online trial booking form must be completed prior to attending a trial lesson. Enrolment requests will be given priority over trial bookings at any time should classes reach capacity. In this instance, the last trial booking made will be contacted and moved to a wait list. Enrolment is annual at GLM Dance Studio; enrolments are valid for one calendar year. A new enrolment must be completed at the start of each year. Enrolments roll over each term. Please advise GLM Dance Studio if you are not planning to return by giving advance notice via email: info@glmdancestudio.com. This will allow your account to be finalised and places to be opened to other students. Students will be placed in the most suitable class for them, based on age and experience level. Enrolment information must be updated if it changes, including contact details and medical information. Please inform GLM Dance Studio of changes via email and ensure you receive a reply: info@glmdancestudio.com. In accordance with the privacy laws, we will not use your personal information for any other purpose than for the running of GLM Dance Studio. Your details will not be shared to any person or organisation without your permission. There is an end of year Showcase in December in which all students are expected to participate as part of their enrolment.
  • Fees Policy
    The first term’s fees will be charged at time of enrolment, as well as the annual registration fee. Following full enrolment, and at the commencement of each term, invoices will be sent to the primary contact. If a student enrols or begins a class mid-term, only remaining lessons will be invoiced. GST is applicable on all invoices and will be detailed specifically. Late fees may be applicable for invoices paid after the due date. Active Kids and Creative Kids Vouchers must be provided prior to the invoice due date in order to be processed. If parents/carers/students have difficulty paying fees, please email info@glmdancestudio.com to discuss financial arrangements prior to due payments. No refunds or credits are applicable for missed lessons. Credits may be considered in the case of extended absences of 2 or more consecutive weeks due to injury/illness or travel. Please apply to management with supporting documentation by emailing info@glmdancestudio.com. Customer Portal surcharges: There is a surcharge of 2.9% and 50¢ per transaction for Visa, Mastercard and Discover transactions. American Express transactions are 3.50% and 50¢ per transaction. There is a surcharge of 88 cents per transaction via direct deposit. There is also a $4.40 rejection fee should the direct deposit bounce/fail.
  • Cancellation/Withdrawal Policy
    In the unlikely event that a GLM class is cancelled, a make-up lesson may be arranged, or students will have the lesson credited to their account. If the temperature within the studio reaches 40 degrees Celsius, all classes that afternoon will be cancelled. If a serious injury or incident occurs during class time, the current class will be stopped. Parents/guardians will be notified if it is necessary to collect students early, or the class teacher will wait with students at the studio until the class finishing time. Enrolment is annual at GLM Dance Studio; enrolments roll over each term. Please advise GLM Dance Studio if you are not planning to return in a new term by giving advance notice via email: info@glmdancestudio.com. This will allow your account to be finalised and places to be opened to other students. There will be no refunds or credits for withdrawal from classes once fees are paid. In the event of extenuating circumstances please contact management by emailing info@glmdancestudio.com to discuss.
  • Attendance Policy
    If a student is regularly late to class, their parent/guardian may be contacted. If you are aware that a student will be picked up late from class, please notify the class teacher as soon as possible via email, or at drop off time. Students are not to be dropped off at the studio prior to 3:30pm as adequate supervision cannot be guaranteed prior to this time.
  • Health & Safety Policy
    The studio space, flooring and equipment are set up to promote and maintain safe dance practices. Appropriate emergency procedures exist and GLM staff understand the procedures relevant to their location. GLM staff have the responsibility and authority to ensure that health and safety objectives are achieved. They will identify and eliminate unsafe acts, procedures, conditions, equipment, and hazards of all kinds. Behavior from students, parents or visitors that may cause an unsafe environment, will not be tolerated. It is the responsibility of the student or parent/guardian to inform GLM of any prior or current allergies, illnesses or injuries, detailed on their enrolment form. All GLM staff members hold a valid First Aid Certificate, CPR training and Working With Children Check. Parents/Guardians must be responsible for minors before and after class times. GLM will not provide supervision to minors outside of class time unless prior arrangements have been made. This includes students outside of GLM premises, in the car park and stairwell. An Emergency evacuation map is located on the premises. A fire extinguisher and smoke alarm is located within the premises. In the event of an injury, GLM staff will administer First Aid treatment. If medical services are necessary and an ambulance is required, the student/parent will incur the costs. Physical contact may be required. Where an injury occurs, the students’ parent/guardian will be contacted. If the primary contact cannot be reached, the emergency contact will be called. Injuries that occur on the premises will be recorded on an Incident report form. Due to the nature of dance classes and technique correction, physical contact with students is often required. Correct uniform and footwear must be worn at all times.
  • Emergency Evacuation Procedure
    In case of an emergency staff will alert all persons with the sound of a bell or vocally. Staff will direct and advise all persons to move safely to the nearest exit, following the emergency evacuation plan. Staff will then direct all persons to the meeting point, in the studio car park, or an alternative safe area. Parents/Guardians of all students will be contacted once we have reached the evacuation area.
  • Communication Policy
    Upon enrolment a valid email address, phone number and emergency contact number must be provided for each student. Important information and invoices will be sent to the primary email address provided upon enrolment. The GLM website and social media pages will include all current information and is available at all times. Communication involving all students under the age of 18 will be directed to the primary contact. All communication must not offend, intimidate, humiliate or bully another person. Digital communication must not be misleading, false or injure the reputation of another person. All enquiries, communication of concerns or queries, must be communicated to GLM in writing via email or website enquiry. Teachers are not available during or in-between class time to discuss matters or answer extensive enquiries.
  • Behaviour and Bullying Policy
    GLM does not tolerate swearing, indecent or disrespectful language, defamatory comments, or indecent or disrespectful conduct from students, parents/guardians, family members, or visitors. Appropriate behaviour is expected on the premises and at associated events, as well as online. Where any person or student feels that they are the victim of bullying, they should notify GLM immediately. Incident/Grievance forms may be completed. All incidents brought to GLMs’ attention will be addressed and resolved promptly. If inappropriate behaviour persists, GLM reserves the right to terminate their enrolment immediately.
  • Parking Policy
    For the safety of our students, staff, and visitors, we kindly ask that all those attending GLM Dance Studio adhere to the following: Be mindful of the traffic of students coming in and out of the studio between class times. Please allow extra care when in the car park. Please only park in the allocated ‘GLM Dance Studio Staff and Students’ car parks. Please do not block the driveway at any time. GLM holds no responsibility for incidents that occur in the car park.
  • Photography/Filming Policy
    Students and parents/carers consent to GLM Dance Studio and GLM Dance Studio teachers using photos and/or videos of students for professional advertising purposes including on social media and the GLM Dance Studio website. Students and parents/carers are not permitted to video or photograph classes, students or staff at any time, unless given permission by the staff or individuals involved. If you do not wish for photographs of you/your child to be published, please inform GLM Dance Studio by emailing info@glmdancestudio.com and ensure you receive a reply. Please note: Professional photo and video footage is taken at the annual GLM Dance Studio Showcase and Photo Day. All students who participate in these events will be filmed and photographed for these purposes regardless of Photography/Social Media Policy acceptance status. This footage and photography is made available to GLM families.
